Maintenance
October is close to an end and winterizations are close to complete. Thank you for all of your patience as I’ve been working through each property. Since RI is at “peak foliage”, so my mother told me, I figured this would be a good time to talk leaves. When homeowners think of leaf and tree maintenance, they mainly focus on gutters. Poor drainage of gutter systems causes water build up against roofs. Then, as a result, potential ice dams. All testing your roof and wearing on your exterior trim. Obvious, I know. But there are also other
issues to consider.

Number 2. The less obvious, ants. The more leaves, grass and debris you have around the house, the more ants and pests you’ll be finding. They love full gutters! They thrive in areas where leaves have sat around and eventually find their way into the house. I know some of you don’t have many leaves, but trust me, it doesn’t take much. 1 ant turns to 1000 in a matter of a week. Next thing you know you’re finding them in your box of wheaties.
Number 3. Leaves and lawn health. If you want a nice full lawn, it’s best to remove anything covering it as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more new seed you'll need come spring. We all know those landscapers aren't cheap!

Let's talk about Narragansett’s Coast Guard House. If you haven't visited yet, it’s a once a summer must. Whether for lunch, dinner or just a quick drink, not much beats watching the waves roll into Narragansett town beach from the rooftop. But how about in the winter? For the last 2 years, CGH has set up about 8 igloos in their outdoor dining area. Enjoy your dinner or cocktail in the comfort of a heated, season styled tent like igloo. Set up with chic furniture and holiday decor, you can set the temperature inside and enjoy lounging before

a bite. In the past, they’ve had them up in November, but if ever in town, make sure to reserve in advance. Igloos during prime hours book quick.
Side Note: I was with my brother Mike and some friends at CGH when they set their record for revenue in a day. According to Mike’s story, our bar tab may have been the key contributor.
